Madison Adult Learners
Student Chris Johnson
Many Herzing University students are Adult Learners. They’ve lived in the real world, and as a result have real-world responsibilities to tend to while advancing their education. Whether working full-time jobs, taking care of a family, or both, Adult Learners are not able to put their lives on hold to attend school.
It can also be challenging for adults to go back into student mode. The typical Herzing student has been out of school five-to-ten years or more, and many new students are worried about making the transition. They wonder it they’ll be able to keep up with the class, and if they will have access to help when they need it.

Meet Adult Learner, Aimee Siegler
I graduated from college in 1991 and I was working at a retail store as well as working collecting student loans. While those weren’t awful jobs, I thought I could do more with my career, so I decided to look at going back to school. I came to Herzing University and learned about the drafting program and thought, ‘I can do that!’ So I signed up.
After I finished my degree in Technology Management I was able to get a new position through [my employer’s] corporate office as the Global Compliance Manager. I’ve been able to use many of the skills I learned during my degree program, in particular project management, which is now part of my job. The degree I got from Herzing University has definitely helped me succeed in my career.
I think if someone is thinking about going back to school, I would say ‘Absolutely.’ One thing I found about Herzing is that even though my schedule was very busy – I had two small children when I went back to school the second time – the support I needed was there so that I could succeed.
