Director of Nursing

I read a bumper sticker the other day that said, “Teachers make a world of difference”. As nurses we have one thing in common, we’ve all received a nursing education that helped us get to our goal of becoming a registered nurse.

The dream of being one of those teachers who makes a difference has been a goal of mine for many years. The joys of teaching nursing are found in such words as satisfaction, communication, and modeling professional values and goals. Satisfaction comes when these treasured gifts are returned back to the student in such ways as motivation for learning and academic preparation. To help prepare students for tomorrow’s rapidly-changing healthcare environment, I need to clearly, succinctly, and emphatically share my knowledge through communication. Students are always watching their instructors, and during those “unscripted” times they seem to learn the most about nursing. Being a role model is crucial.

For me, it is worth all the trials and tribulations during the student’s educational journey because in the end, they say those magical words: Thanks for being there when I needed you most!
